MobilePay (Animation)

At MobilePay I was a UX and digital design student worker. During my year with MobilePay I was responsible for the creation of digital experiences, creating animated gift-wrappings, and other digital elements on the app. I co-conducted a large-scale user study on merchant users of MobilePay products and designed and implemented changes based on that study.

Animation Work

It was an absolute pleasure creating animations at MobilePay. I was given creative freedom to bring concepts to life! The focus of Mobilepay’s Giftwrapping is to bring joy to everyday gifts. As the animator of these wrappings, I brought to life for example the ideas of “sending love in a box”, “Easter”, and very importantly— giving your child a little extra in their piggy bank! Here I’d like to highlight my three favorite animations I created.

Design Process

MobilePay animations consist of 3 animation loops, this is the process I took to create each the animations I made.

Piggy Bank

We will start with my pride and joy, the first animation I’ve made. The piggy bank concept came along during a brainstorming session that I conducted with MobilePay Giftwrapping stakeholders. MobilePay wanted to incorporate a few new animations into their giftwrappings universe. They wanted wrappings that could be used in different scenarios. One scenario was when a parent gives a child (or newly moved out young adult) a bit extra lommepeng.

Heart Box

How do we send love in a box? For this animation I used a mixed-method approach to its creation. The bubble bursting, hearts, and streamers were animated frame by frame. It was then assembled in After Effects and the top of the box was animated via key frames.

Easter Bunny— Catch them if you can!

The idea behind this animation was to try and gamify the wrapping experience. Here an extra frame was added and the user interacts with the animation trying to “catch” the bunny.
