Sofar Sounds Aalborg

Sofar Sounds is an international organisation which creates intimate music experiences. Sofar Sounds Aalborg is run by a dedicated team of music enthusiast. I am very proud to say I am part of the Sofar Aalborg team!

As their Graphic Designer every month I get to create a kick-ass poster for the events. Sofar Sounds Aalborg is bright, open, and exceptional like the volunteers who make it happen. Through their posters I wanted to give Sofar Sounds Aalborg a visual representation which fit with their unique feel.

Just like every month the event’s location is kept a secret till the day of. However, I have given the audience a little hint as to where it will be. Can you guess the location?

Did you know that only 17% of Danish musicians are female?

In April Sofar Sounds Aalborg is collaborating with the Fem Eye initiative and featuring a line up full of talented women! This event celebrates female musicians in Danish music.

Naturally I was inspired by female musicians for this design. As for the color theme every month the Sofar team chooses a color they wish to incorporate in all aspects of the event. Wether it is the set design or the promotional materials; for April the chosen color is RED.

Sketching process of the main element. Created in Procreate, on iPad Pro.

One funny misconception people have about the name of Sofar Sounds is that the name has something to do with a sofa. In reality Sofar is an acronym for "Songs From A Room."

This month it was all about yellow!

Something you'll always find at a Sofar Sounds Aalborg gig are plants! The plant life at the gigs bring a homely touch you just can't get at a large concert.

"Can you keep a secret?" This catchy tagline was used for Sofar Sound Aalborg's first event. This poster was intended to create some mystery and allure to Sofar Sounds Aalborg, we wanted to peak Aalborg's interest and gather enough people for the first gig. The event hosted over 50 people!
